I have this one covered.
Unless the two machines are connected on network (remote desktop is not a network per say) and a virus in question has network code written into it.
So even if they are on a network, you'd have to contract the right type of malware for it to spread through networks.
Conficker for example has network code written in it.
But honestly, malware writers don't really use network spreaders anymore due to more and more malware spreading via USB sticks because it goes un-noticed (unless the machines AV notices it) but even that is useless is the autorun is activated by just entering the drive.
