We have a DSL wired desktop and a new wireless laptop and need to know our best options to run both at same time. Our internet provider is offering a wireless router to replace our modem and have us buy a wireless adapter for our desktop making both wireless. I have been looking at purchasing the NETGEAR RangeMax DGND3300 Dual Band Wireless-N Router DSL Switch Gateway Modem instead of paying my provider monthly fee. Will this work to connect to our desktop using a lan line and operate the laptop wireless at the same time? Is it the best option or what would you experts recommend? Thanks in advance,

Using your own router is better than using the company's. That will allow you to change and adjust all of the settings to your liking. And if you ever move, transfer your service, or upgrade your router and decide to sell that one, you have that option.

That router is a great choice, but you really don't need one that expensive for what you are trying to accomplish. It has LAN connections so your PC can stay connected. It is a wireless N router. So make the wireless adapter in your laptop is N. There are different options. So, check to see what type your laptop has and then get your router.

Having your own router is definitely the best way to go. It will allow you to do both LAN and Wireless which is exactly what you want. Also, If you ever switch to cable, you can use your own router on DSL and cable.
