I just bought this firewire to USB thing for my camera. Every time i plug it in the computer, i get the message that the topic says, as well as it saying that it has malfunctioned. I have Vista Ultimate 64-Bit and an HP TouchSmart tx2 laptop. If you want more info on the firewire thing, here is the link from amazon of where i bought it.

I googled this and got these 4 steps:
1. Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf
2. Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, select Properties >Security > Edit,
and give your account full control.
3. Delete INFCACHE.1 (Or just to be safe, rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK or
temporarily move to your desktop but you shouldn't need to, windows doesn't
need that file to run, and if it needs to it recreates it).
4. REBOOT
So I did that but it didn't help. Could the problem be that this account is not administrator, and if so, can you make the guest account administrator?
Thanks
