unknown device on device manager

Location: on Intel(R) 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Controller - 27B8

Could this be the reason why my hard drives does not have the regular icon for HDD, here's how it looks like.

Download and install TweakUI from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

There should be an option to restore the icons.

If it doesn't work, boot into safe mode and restart back into normal mode, this should reset the Iconcache.db
