Most of My Programs Can't Connect Online.

I have a problem with many of my programs, since they can not connect to the internet, at all. Updates fail, and when installing or confirming something, I can't. Weird thing is, Avira and Firefox still work, but Internet Explorer stopped working after I updated to Windows Service Pack 1. I have a Vista Home Premium. When I was trying to install something, and it required to connect online, this came up. A Moderator in the Malware forum directed me here, since it seemed to be a networking problem.

I just read something from Google about this error code, one person solved it by turning off a proxy setting in Internet Explorer, and I see a proxy set in your Hijack This log.

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"
  
• Check the boxes in front of these lines:
  
  
  R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local
  
  
  
• Press "Fix Checked"
  
• Close Hijack This.

I think there maybe.

In IE: Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.

It was already unchecked. I don't this might be unfixable

Hmmm... Why not use Firefox then? It's a much faster and secure browser.

well, I'm not sure which text I should give you. If any of my programs try to connect to the internet, it just gives that standard

This is caused by a proxy but, you said you have disabled it?

In Firefox >> Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Network tab >> Settings >> No Proxy.

uh...no. I'm pretty sure it's something related to a hard drive problem, possibly drivers or something. I don't know. All I know is that it's deeper than a virus or minor bug. Firefox 3.0.5 is the only browser that works, and if
I update it, then that doesn't work also. Basically, all my programs can't connect online, and that really disables my computer.

Ok try this:

Start >> Run >> type in cmd type these in and press enter after each line:

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /flushdns

It says "the requested operation requires elevation."

Under the Start menu, type in cmd, right click it and select Run as Administrator. Try again.

Ya I did that before, but after it worked, and I was going to tell you, my browser stopped working... That actually made the situation worse. I had to restore my system,.

Would it help if I told you Avira Antivir, and Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5 can still connect to the internet? They might use a different way or something, and you can help fix it.
