I have a four year old Dell Inspiron E1505. I am unable to stream from netflix, youtube, any streaming site, or use a program online. I have good internet connection, it doesn't go down, but it glitches and stops the streaming or loading of programs. I have restarted router and modem and computer multiple times. Called the internet provider and went through steps to prove it is not the router or my provider, it is in fact something wrong with the computer itself.
A few weeks ago a virus knocked out my computer, I've had the whole thing wiped and reinstalled Windows XP. A friend did it, not a professional which now worries me, although it had been working fine for weeks until just a few days ago. I've run three different anti virus, ad-ware, maleware programs over the past few weeks multiple times to rule out a virus. Nothing is found.
Another thing to consider is my computer occasionally beeps, the kind that comes from inside, not through the speakers. After searching online I ruled it to being that it's a warning my computer is getting too hot. (though it could be other issues, it's not consistent in when it beeps) The fan comes on very loud now in the last few years, but the computer is old. Nothing has ever changed in the performance of the computer with all that happening over the last few years. It was a matter of it working one night, waking up the next morning unable to stream or use my language program through the local library online, or use youtube. I can access google, yahoo, my email, facebook just fine. What happened? Is it possible the computer got too hot it damaged my wireless card? Was it not wiped properly and now is showing itself a few weeks after the fact? I am hoping it is something fixable. Thank you!
