Hey.
I just got an old Toshiba Tecra 9100 mailed to me from a friend. Today I installed Ubuntu and Windows XP on it, and it was working fine. This evening, however, I was playing Minesweeper on Ubuntu, closed the laptop to take a sip of water, and when I opened it again, the screen was black with a blinking white underscore in the top left. So, I restarted the computer using the power button, and ever since then I've been getting the same error (see title).
After a half hour of looking around, I fear I might have picked up a virus which has overwritten my BIOS. Is that possible? If so, how likely is it, and if/how is it fixed? What other possibilities are there? Maybe I closed the laptop to hard, or leaned on it? Basically, I'd just like to know what could have caused this, and if/how I can fix it.
Thanks for your time

Edit: It's probably worth mentioning that the CD/DVD drive is not registering at all, and I can't even get into CMOS.
