Hi,
My home desktop with Windows XP is repeatedly shutting down and rebooting, disk-checking, running startup then as soon as it gets to functioning normal screen it all happens again.
If I hit f8 and use the disable the system failure restart/reboot option it works sometimes, but not others.

Yesterday a man from some 'computer maintenance' organisation called me and said in a foreign accent 'Do you realise that your computer is downloading many, many viruses and malware programs?'. He mentioned something about it restarting and he told me to start my computer and hit ctrl R, when the line went quiet and I hung up.
My mum then told me that she'd received an email about this happening in a scam, so when he called again I hung up.

Is there something I can do about my computer?

Thanks,
L.
