Hello,

Recently, I noticed when I right click on a folder in my computer, I get this pop-up

Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error MicrosoftVisualCDebugLibrary

When I click on 'Retry', my computer temporarily closes all my programs and a windows appears trying to 'solve' the problem, yet it has not found any solution.

Also, I don't use Internet Explorer as my main browser. My main browser is Opera, so it confused me to see that my Internet Explorer was "corrupted".

This message only appears when I try to right click on a folder containing an .mp3 file or a document. However, I can still open my folder and access the files without any message.

Is there any way to solve the problem on my Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library?

I have already tried to reset my Internet Explorer Settings, but this message still pops up.

Thank you for your time and patience,
Silver

I installed 'Microsoft Fix It Center Online' and tried to run as many troubleshooters possible (some programs did not need fixing or were programs that were not even installed onto my computer).

However, I still get the same pop-up when right clicking a folder.

  • Please download VEW by Vino Rosso from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.
  • Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left
  • Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).
  • Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run
  • Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad
  • Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply

I'm out of ideals on this. Lets try to repair IE.

1. Download IEFix, unzip it to your Desktop, and run it.
2. Click the Apply button.
3. You'll be prompted for the Operating System CD or the Service Pack Files location:
  • If you're using Windows XP, insert the Operating System CD. For OEM systems, point to the Operating System source path when prompted. If you've applied a Service Pack separately, you need to insert the Slipstreamed Operating System CD (if you have one) or point the installer to the ServicePack source path when prompted (see the image below). Mention the path as "C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386" or "C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles"
  • If you don't have the Windows installation CD, and if the installation source files are not present in the hard disk, you may click Cancel when you see a dialog similar to the image below. IEFix will continue with DLL registration part.

  • Restart Windows. Let me know how it went?

I downloaded IEFix and tried to run it, but I didn't get the message you were referring about (Operating System CD).

My IEFix stops here; Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error IEFix.

Even when I right click my folder, I still get the same old pop up.

Alright then, thanks alot for all the help and perseverance!

I have a question though;

Since the laptop I'm using is fairly new with nothing much important in it, if I reformat it, will the problem cease?

Also, if I reformat it, will I lose some basic programs such as Paint, etc.?

I don't have the Windows 7 Installation CD because my laptop was provided with it, will I be able to have Windows 7 after reformatting it?

Could you explain to me how to reformat my laptop?

Thank you very much

Hello!

I do indeed think the problem will cease through reformat/reinstall. However, we do not always recommend this, but if it is your decision, then that is ok.

However, since you have stated you do not have a Windows 7 CD, I would say to not proceed with the reformat and reinstall.

Instead, please do the following:

Download the latest version of Kaspersky GetSystemInfo (GSI) from Kaspersky and save it to your Desktop.

Note: please close all other applications running on your system.

Double click GetSystemInfo.exe to open it. It will display an agreement. Click on I Agree to continue.

Click the Settings button.Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error 2hd457o

Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error Settingsslider

Set the slider to Maximum.

Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error Driversports

IMPORTANT! Then, click Customize - choose Driver / Ports tab and uncheck Scan Ports.

Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error Generaltab

On the General tab, make sure all of the boxes are checked.

Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error Misce

On the Misc tab, make sure all the checkboxes are checked.

Then, click OK on the windows that you launched.

Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error 2ekm73m
Click Create Report to run it.

Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error Beginscanning
It will begin scanning.

It will create a zip folder called GetSystemInfo_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.zip on your Desktop.

It should automatically upload it to http://www.getsysteminfo.com. If it does not, then please submit it manually by going to the site and doing the upload process.

It will redirect to a page, where it will provide a sharing URL for specialists. Copy and paste the url of the GSI Parser report in your next reply.

Hello,

I have a quick suggestion. Please do as Jay recommend. Also one additional step. I saw in your first thread that when you Right Click the Explorer.exe crashes. I had wrote an article about this with possible fixes.

Most of the times the Explorer crashes due a bad or corrupt Context Menu the best way to troubleshoot is to download the ShellExView is an excellent tool to view and manage all installed shell extensions. The rule is to disable non-Microsoft context menu handlers *one-by-one* and verify if the problem is solved. If disabling one does not solve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable the next non-Microsoft handler. Do the same until the problem is solved and finally identify the culprit. Scroll right to see the Company Name column in ShellExView.

Possibly a System File Check run may work, because looks like ZipGenius damaged it.

I tried to Disable both my ZipGenius program (as it was the only programs that did not have "Microsoft Corporation" as a Company).

However, it did not change my situation, I still get the pop-up when right-clicking a folder.

Should I just uninstall ZipGenius from my laptop?

descriptionMicrosoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error EmptyRe: Microsoft Visual Debug C++ Library Error

Try to uninstall it real quick.

But, if that doesn't work, we will attempt System File Checker.

(VEW, IEFix, etc)

You're welcome.

Yes, delete the programs that we used to help fix the issue.

Marked as solved. Feel free to come back when you need help. Smile...
