Game system help?

Check out Call of Duty Black Ops, Call of Duty MW2, GTA IV, God of War III: Ultimate Edition , BioShock 2. All awesome games.

We have most of those games but our system (which was the original backwards compatible) finally gave up its ghost and won't turn on. I've watched tutorials of how to get it working again but i don't have the tools. Just wanted to know if it was worth the work and money to get it running again or should I just give in and get a newer model? I hate that they don't make them backwards compatible anymore. I want mine back lol
