CD/DVD Burner won't burn (plays files fine, just won't burn) Please Help

I'm using Windows XP: Home Edition and my Burner is a LG CD/DVD Burner HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H54L

I noticed today that my burner won't burn DVD's right now. It plays Audio CD's and DVD's fine, for some reason it just won't burn. I'm using the same brand of discs I always use and the same program I've always used which has never given me a problem and I updated the driver over 2 or 3 months ago.

Problem
I put the DVD in and it doesn't bring up the Take Action box that it normally does when I put something in, but the green light flashes like it's reading. It shows that there is a blank disc in the drive but then when I go to Burn a DVD everything freezes and it never starts burning. Then I can't even cancel it, I have to shut my computer off by pushing it's actual power button, other wise I can't do a thing. Can anyone help me out here?

What software are you using to burn the DVD? Did you use the DVD over again?

I'm using ConvertXtoDVD and I've never had any problems with it. All of a sudden my burner won't burn anything. And I tried 3 different discs and every time it froze the comp completely and I have to power off by the button and power on.

This happened to me before, your DVD burner is faulty and you need to replace it.

Oh man, I've only had this thing for a year. This sucks, I was hoping it was a software issue

I just burned a CD-R today fine, but it won't burn DVD-R's....How can it work for one but not the other? Is there nothing else I can check to fix this problem before buying a burner that seems to do everything except burn DVD's?

Could it be the image/file you are trying to burn is corrupted?

No, I tried a couple different files and same result, everything freezes and it doesn't go past 0% in the Burn Status. I just want to know if there is anything else I can try "Troubleshooting" wise before I buy a new burner.

I tried it with Power2Go and it worked!! I don't know why but it burned the DVD-R disc. I don't understand why a program would just stop working and cause my whole computer to freeze every time I try and burn with it. I've been using that same program (ConvertXtoDVD) for years and I love the options and the way it works. I even tried uninstalling the program and then reinstalling it and burning a disc and the same problem, yet it works with Power2Go DVD and burns fine. I really wish there was a way to fix the ConvertXtoDVD so I can convert and burn all in one simple, easy to use program.
