I have been trying to follow the actions on 3 other threads

Still a few Bugs - Another Victim of Win32/Nuqel.E
Win32/Nuqel.E and BankerFox.A removal need help please
Internet security 2010

these are present on my Daughters Laptop.

I managed to remove the Internet security 2010 quite easily but the Win32/Nuqel.E and BankerFox.A is proving more difficult

I have down loaded, isntalled and run 'HiJack This' and produced a log file, it confirms the presence of at least 2 problems identified which match others in the threads

"C:\Documents and Settings\Other\Local Settings\Application Data\hhiess\lalasysguard.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cxirtpth] C:\Documents and Settings\Other\Local Settings\Application Data\hhiess\lalasysguard.exe"

I cannot delete the lalasysguard.exe

I also cannot restart HiJack This, Regedit, Task Manager, CMD or any other applications which move towards the virus removal..I assume the virus is preventing this.

Advice please, I have loaded the full 'HiJack This' log below

Please download ComboFix And Yet Another Win32/Nuqel.E and BankerFox.A and Internet security 2010 Combofix from BleepingComputer.com

Alternate link: GeeksToGo.com

Alternate link: Forospyware.com

Rename ComboFix.exe to commy.exe before you save it to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools A guide to do this can be found here
  • Click Start>Run then copy paste the following command into the Run box & click OK "%userprofile%\desktop\commy.exe" /stepdel
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console

And Yet Another Win32/Nuqel.E and BankerFox.A and Internet security 2010 Query_RC
Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
And Yet Another Win32/Nuqel.E and BankerFox.A and Internet security 2010 RC_successful

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Build 20091220
Run at 20:44:21 on exeHelper by Raktor
Build 20091220
Run at 20:44:37

There is some evidence of what may be a very nasty infection.
If the Computer has been used for any important data, you are strongly advised to do the following, immediately:

  • Back up all important data on the machine.
  • If you have ever used this computer for shopping, banking, or any transactions relating to your financial well being:

Call all of your banks, credit card companies, and financial
institutions, informing them that you may be a victim of identity
theft, and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account
    numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change ALL your online
passwords -- for ISP login, email, banks, financial accounts, PayPal,
eBay, online companies, and any online forums or groups you belong to.
  • DO NOT
change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected
computer because the attacker will get the new password and transaction
    information.
  • Take any other steps you think appropriate for potential identity theft.

Please download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please reboot to Safe Mode (tap the F8 key just before Windows starts to load and select the Safe Mode option from the menu).

  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

I cannot carry this out as I cannot boot the PC, so cannot access the files

We have decided to reformat the disk and re-install the operating system

Before we do this we need to get the PC booted up to take required files off it.

I think this needs to be our focus

If you can advise on this it would be great

Cheers

These are links to Anti-virus vendors that offer free LiveCD or Rescue CD files that are used to boot from for repair of unbootable and damaged systems, rescue data, scan the system for virus infections. Burn it as an image to a disk to get a bootable CD. All (except Avira) are in the ISO Image file format. Avira uses an EXE that has built-in CD burning capability.
If you are not sure how to burn an image, please read How to write a CD/DVD image or ISO. If you need a FREE utility to burn the ISO image, download and use ImgBurn.

Let me know how it goes.
