SONY VAIO WIFI CRASHES

got an older sony vaio (PCG-Z1WAMP) and when the wifi is turned on it seems to crash and a blue screen comes up for a second. i tried to install a update for the driver and no luck. help is appreciated.

Please turn off your laptop and follow next instructions.

• Turn laptop on and press F12 on your keyboard. Depending on the model of Sony Vaio, you may have to press either the F11 key or the ESC key to enter this restore mode.
  
• Choose option to Repair your Operating System.
  
• When process finish, your computer will restart automatically.
  

its not crashing laptop anymore with wifi turned on, but i cant seem to figure out how to set up the wireless. i have an engenius wireless router i would like to connect it to.
