How do i get rid of system security malware/virus?

I have this system security thing on my computer that is driving me crazy it pops up every minute or so to tell me i have something called Lsas.Blaster.keyloger that is tryin to send my credit card information out somewhere or it pops up and says i have 38-90 virus's etc. I cannot use the system restore feature on my computer or add/remove programs. I have tried to download free repair software and it wont let that go thru. PLEASE HELP ME. I belive have windows xp.

Please download the current version of HijackThis from HERE

• Double click and run the installer.
  
• It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  
• After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  
• Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.
  

This thing will not let anything download.

Do you have another machine to download from, the transfer the files via USB?

yes i have another computer. you will have to explain to me in detail how to do the above. i do know what a usb is lol.

Just download the Hijack This installer onto the USB stick from another machine, then transfer it over to the infected machine, then try running the installer.

I don't have a usb stick. what are those called i really need to get one i guess. i have a usb cord.

I hope this doesn't sound stupid but i really don't know that much about computers. I have an mp3 player is there some way i could transfer the data to that? No hu. I am willing to try almost anything at this point.

The MP3 player might work, as along as you don't mess with the folders/software inside it.

Update. after reading countless ways to rid myself of this evil thing i had my hubby go into safe mode and try and remove it and it finally worked.

What program did you use? the run values/filenames are completely random for system security?

We were trying to reinstall the windows disk but it wouldn't let us so we went into safe mode> add/delete programs and deleted the System Security downloads then restarted the computer. Should i download a program like hijack or something to that effect to protect my computer? I have something already that came with my internet subscrip but i don't know how good it is seeing how this got through? My husband said since i have auto updates i shouldnt have to update anything which i didn't know. i had a java update today and i was afraid of it so didn't do it. I am afraid to download anything at this point. My husband did show me how to check a downloads security certificate but im still afraid.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. 1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen.
