Ispynow infection...help!

Just like all the posts I see here, I too got this problem...tried Norton Antivirus 2009 and didnt even see it.....I hope you guys can help me out here....

one more thing...I shutdown my computer last night and restarted it....it ran a series of updates and got stuck on 3 of 3 update....and stayed at 0%... then it shutdown and restarted again with the same message ....it just keeps on going over and over and not completing booting up....any ideas?

Im about to reinstall vista over again..but I kinda want you input before I do... I also worked in recovery mode...weird thing is that it could not find a backup or fix the problem....

My advice? Don't go near Vista at all.
It could be the UAC interfering with the updates.

thanks for the tip.. but I cant get to my control panel since I am unable to even get windows from starting... yah Vista is a headache...more like a migraine everytime I think about..... now Im thinking bout downgrading instead....
any more ideas ?

To be honest, I haven't heard of anything like that before, but I use XP, so can't say I know Vista like I do XP.
Okay, if you want to downgrade.
I'd recommend you do a full format of the HD before going to XP, there is known to be a number of error going from Vista to XP.

Whatever you decide to do, we need to make sure you don't get infected again.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. 1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. 4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.
