I have a older Dell pc, with XP home on it. I have installed FireFox for my browser, a while back (about 3 months ago). I use the Xp pictures all the time, but one day (about a month ago) all the folder titles are hidden when I open each folder, everything has their titles shown. If I put the cursor over the folder, it tells me which folder it is. When I go to save a picture, it shows all the folder names. How do I get the names back unhidden?

Thanks, Pat

Try this:

  • Please download Unhide by Grinler from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click unhide.exe to run the tool.
  • It will take some time to go through all your files, so please be patient.
  • If this tool doesn´t fix the problem, please let me know.

What do you mean by XP pictures? Could you post a couple of screenshots of this?

How to post screenshots or images

I'm sorry, been busy, and not on the pc.

I meant to say I'm using the MS windows "My Pictures" That come with windows.

Please try renaming each folder.

I have, it just re-hides it. If I go to "save as" to save another picture, it shows all the folder names, but not if I just go to "my pictures" the folders have the name hidden. If I hold the cursor over the folder, it tells me which folder it is. If I open a folder, all the picture names are there.

One day it just decided to do this. I changed nothing, that I know of.
I try to run my AVG, malwarebytes, Spybot, CCleaner, and run my defrag each week or two. My malware told me there was a update for my Malwarebytes last week, so I installed it, and the next day my pc would work, it just botted up, and locked up. I worked at it, and took malwrebytes out, going through "safe mode" and my pc works again. My AVG has found some viruses every so often. Malwaresbytes has not. Could a virus have done something one of the times?

 Thanks,  Pat

Please describe to me the method you're using to change the name of the folder.

I right click on the folder, a box opens, then click on rename, then type in name, then click next to it to save the name, it then goes hidden again.

They are back!!! Thank you Superdave!!!
I started to read where you gave me to look, and someone (a few others) had the same problem. I did what someone suggested one of them to do, and it worked.

I went to "My Pictures" clicked on the "Tools", then "folder Options" then "view", then checked "Show hidden files and folders", then "Apply to all folders" then "Apply", then "Ok". Then they were all back!

Thanks for all the Help!!
Pat
