I am running Windows XP.
When I ran CHKDSK from the DOS cmd window, it comes up with "Errors found . Cannot continue in read-only mode."
When I run Check Disk, from right clicking the disk icon, displayed from My Computer, it does not find any problems. (Is this the same utility or a different one?
I have also run CHKDSK /f, from the DOS cmd window. But CHKDSK still detects problems.

Is there some other check that I can do to detect and resolve if I have some disk problems. And why is CHKDSK not fixing it?

Run chkdsk /r /f and it will tell you to reboot. Try it from there.

I have run Chdsk /r /f 3 times, it appears to complete successfully without errors, but the display disappears too quickly to be sure. However, I have followed it by running CHKDSK, which has always displayed some errors: once it showed problems in the File system, the last time it showed that "Cannot continue in Read only mode" (as I originally reported).
What steps should I take?!
