Kernal32.dll not located/SP 2 won't install

Hello,

I had to reinstall Windows last week along with the drivers. While trying to reinstall the previous programs that were on here originally- Java being one of them. Realized also that SP 2 was no longer on here either. Java wouldn't run, then tried to run SP 2 and got this error code (after 4 hours!) : The Procedure Entry Point Encode Pointer could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernal32.dll.
I like researching the techie stuff- but this is too complicated for me to figure out. And am afraid of messing up something else. So- thought I would check with you to see if you have any suggestions. It is a Windows XP Home edition- Dell. Thank you in advance.

Remove and Reinstall your Video Driver and see. If that didnt fix the Problem: Proceed to the website below.

See if that page helps you resolve the dll Issue.

Also before Installing the SP2, Check for windows Updates and Install all the Available Updates.

Hello- Thank you for all of the information. I tried the uninstalling of and reinstalling of the video driver- nothing.

Went to the dll site. Got a little closer, but now will not let me type in what they ask. I get this error: Windows cannot find MediaInfo exe. This program is needed for opening files of type 'DLL File" Type in the executable file to be used instead. I'm going to keep trying their site to see if anything I find there works- but the problem is- I don't know what file it is I am looking for!

Thank you again. I do believe that after I fix this issue- I will be able to run the updates I need- SP 2 and 3.

Also: Once I found and unzipped kernel 32 received this: Kernel 32 was loaded but the dll Register server entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered. I'm totally lost now as to what I am even looking for.

Did you checked for Available Windows Updates?

I don't believe it. After a lot of reading- I just tried to install SP3- and it worked! Thank you thank you. Some monetary appreciation will be coming your way soon- If not for the reliable reading material- I would not have even tried it. Have a wonderful rest of the week.
