Slow Computer.. Errors.. Stubborn undeletable files..

For the record, this is on my Windows XP Pro laptop.

Okay well.. I've had problems removing a stubborn folder on my desktop.. It keeps saying it won't delete.. I have tried everything i can think of.. FileASSASSIN from Malwarebytes.. Some programs that delete the file during boot, trying to delete it in Safe Mode.. it won't go away..

Then i also have a problem with System Mechanic from Iolo.. It won't uninstall no matter how hard i try.. I have deleted registry keys and manually tried to delete the files as shown here... http://www.iolo.com/customercare/PrintArticle.aspx?id=KBA-02081 and here.. http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Uninstall-System-Mechanic&id=3621322 .. Nothing i do will completely uninstall it.. Now there's a problem with one of the files from System Mechanic smrgdf program files missing skipped auto check on boot..

First of all, sorry for the late reply. As it happens, threads with more than 2-3 posts often get missed, because our helpers thinks there is a discussion going on already.
Als0o: this is not a malware problem (virus/trojan etc). Still, let´s see if I can help you with your problem.

Download and install Revo Uninstaller from here.

• Run Revo Uninstaller
  
• Find the program you want to uninstall, click it and click the Uninstall button
  
• When prompted for an uninstall mode choose Advanced
  
• Follow the prompts to uninstall the program and related registry entries

If this did not work, what you could try is reinstall the program and after that revo-uninstall it.

What exactly is the stubborn file?

Also please note that sysmtem/registry optimizers promise mountains of gold but don´t do too much imo.
If you want to optimize your system, the best thing you can do is critically look at the resident programs you run on startup and get rid of the ones you don´t need.
