Laptop Black light

hope i posted this in the right forum anyway
hey i have been having issues with my laptops backlight all of a sudden when i was fixing my forum a white screen came up the computer froze so i turned it of from the button when i rebooted it it was a blank screen the scroll,caps and disk drive light where flashing (im on via an iphone) Any ideas on what the probablem may be?
