i had a crazy bug at my school that was infecting all da pc n we had in bit def and as soon as we put in ESETt in there pow! gone like the wind so def ESET fro me.
Running ESET on my Sager and BitDefender on my Dell. Both seem to be doing a very good job. I must look into relative system loading. Thanx to all for opinions.
ESET is good ! But not very good on Windows 7 machine. Because it tend to blocks local NETBIOS ports used by system services – those services that use “NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK” as user name like sysmain – Superfetch, for example. The services all run under “svchost” and too often the ESET block some/all network svchost activity or severely interfere with them. I have wrote a article about it here http://captaindebugger.wordpress.com/bsod-vs-internet-security/ . Well I'm sure most of them won't agree with me. But i have seen 100's of BSOD just caused by ESET. Now a days the number is going down. With the latest update they have changed some driver which is performing quiet well.
You have plenty of free software out there. The best one i know is Microsoft Security Essentials. Doesn't have a Firewall though. But if your using Windows 7 then Windows Firewall is more than enough in addition to that install http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/ free editons will serve the purpose then a free version of WinPatrol your safe.
