I encountered this problem a couple of day ago. I began to see vertical magenta lines steaming on my monitor. When I shut down to restart to see if the problem would go away, I got a blue screen message:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

If this is the first time... etc, etc, etc

It's not a memory issue but seems to be a driver(?) or hardware(?).

I am currently operating in Safe Mode and trying to figure this out but having no success. I am no expert but can follow directions pretty well. How can I identify the problem and fix it?

Thanks!

A video card issue. Appears your video card is probably bad. It will need replaced.

Try reinstalling the drivers first before you throw out the video card!
