This is what worked for me. I couldn't download the malware update in safe mode but I could run the program. I did a system restore then was able to re-scan with SuperAntiSpyware. It hasn't come back but it was only this morning so I may see it again. I also updated with Norton but now I can't scan for viruses with it. Thanks for all the advice.

if you have read all the way to this comment, then let me tell you. Yes, it really works. I was skeptical of the program, but do it man it really does work. Or of course you don't have to and your comp can stay like that or you go buy your way out of it and lose all your files or just try this. Besides it can't get any worse....right?

I couldn't thank you guys enough i followed the directions and my computer is back to normal from being so nasty. This was the best solution when i googled how to get rid of it. You guys probably save me alot of money as opposed to taking it in to get fixed which would of been my next move. I seriously couldn't thank you enough and now im a member on here and seeing how it's useful for other problems i will most definitely tell my friends and family about this,again thank you so much

just found this site today, following my pc getting attacked! i must say, i followed directions, took about 20 minutes, and viola--gone!!! really disappointed in my Norton utility! it never detected it, and was updated today...norton users come here for solution!! Thanks Geeks!!!!!!

I to was struck by the antivirus soft virus, it just came out from no where. As soon as it appeared I knew it was a fake. Found this site and followed the easy to understand instructions, It removed the virus from my computer very quickly, thanks for everything!!

Hey guys, I was having trouble at the point it would try and update itself after the load.... it was blocked and the update is what had the info to find this bugger..... I ran the scan without it and it didn't find it.... I went to Item#4 on the list and downloaded the current database and it found two items and then all was good after a re-boot.

Lenovo P61 running Vista

I followed the instructions to get rid of anti virus soft and was able to get rid of it. However, now I have a few new problems. First, my computer now will not ever shutdown using the start, turn off computer, restart (or turn off) sequence which I always used before. Now I either have to power it off or, not infrequently, I have to actually remove the battery. Secondly, it is freezing up fairly frequently (numerous times everyday); it rarely did this before (maybe once a month). After it freezes I have to power it off or remove the battery to restart it. And sometimes when it freezes I get a loud humming noise like maybe the hard drive is working to unfreeze it. Also in my Norton security logs it still says there are unauthorized accesses taking place to the Norton Internet security engine from notepad.exe, rstrui.exe, ipod etc (in short from the progs that I run). I wonder if there are still traces of this virus on my machine. BTW, Norton never picked up any indication of the virus-I wonder if the virus compromised it somehow. In any case, does anybody have any ideas as to how i can solve these new problems? Thanks in advance.

OK, I hoping that I, God! Even as I'm writing this it's sending rubbish up! I downloaded Malware bytes did the safe mode thing blah blah and still, this thing just keeps on coming back. I've been doing this for two days now! I just did the Malware virus check thing which to fifty plus minutes and that's the third time today! It says that there are no infected files etc, but there certainly is. This is just evil! What am I doing wrong or do I just have a super Antivirus Soft? I can get on the internet, safe mode etc, but nothing is removing this. Please for the love of all that is desent, HELP! And why doesn't some clever-dick come up with something that as soon as some blank bland sends you a virus, it sends them one back twice as bad?

Mine was still there after the first attempt of the quick scan. So I ran the full scan after another restart and it seems to have fixed the problem. I followed the instructions and it worked out for me. Don't listen to people saying this took 15 minutes. From start to finish, it took me a few hours. Ugghh. Thanks for the help GeekPolice

I'm a computer amateur at best and was at wits' end once that bug hijacked my computer (a.k.a., my job search lifeline) for a solid week. If I'd seen that phony ad, error message, and porno sites pop up in my windows just a few more times, the whole computer was going to go out the *actual* window.

Sceptically, (& desperate & broke) I stumbled across this thread and followed the clear, simple, complete instructions to the letter. Twenty minutes later, I WAS BACK ON TRACK, GOOD AS NEW ---AND FOR FREE, TO BOOT!!!

ive scanned my computer 10 times with malwarebytes and it will not pick up any virus whats next?

So heres my problem. I downloaded as you said. Im on safemode and networking as we speak. But im trying to get the Anti-Malware to open but it wont? did i do something wrong. Its completely downloaded and everything but it wont do the next steps.

I just got this damn malware. I am wondering if you still be able to get to open the files and installed programs once treated. Or will they remain corrupted?

The first time I did the Malware Bytes scan, it found a number of infections, and I cleaned them all out. Now, when I run the scan it tells me no malware was found. But every time I turn my computer on in normal mode, it freezes in the middle of the booting-up process.

The scan tells me I don't have Antivirus Soft anymore, so why can I still not use my computer??

I tried spyware doctor and it works, my pc is Antivirus Soft-free anymore!

Thanks for this site! I couldn't get Internet access even though I was in safe mode with networking. I tried using another computer to download the malware software and then transferred it to the infected computer via flash drive. I was able to do this, but the software would not run. Finally, I decided to try a restore my computer in safe mode. This worked! I restored two days back and my computer returned to its normal, happy self. Thank heavens. Note: I couldn't download the malware even after my computer was up and running. I don't know why.

By the way, I am quite convinced that this virus comes from facebook. When I restored back to a pre-facebook day, it went away completely.

I had spent a couple of hours trying to delete this stupid piece of malware before coming across this article. Thankfully, this guide worked amazingly! (Don't forget to update MalwareBytes, kiddies, or it won't do you any good)

Thanks for the "repair" procedure! I'm back up and running! The only thing I would note is that once you get Malwarebytes installed in "safe" mode, be sure to UPDATE it otherwise it will not "see" AV Soft nor remove it.

If you don't get an internet connection in safe mode open internet explorer go to tools then internet options - connections - LAN settings and uncheck the box to use a proxy server for your LAN the program seems to use a proxy server so that any website you try to load errors but that allows you to connect.

\alright the problem that I am having is I disabled my wireless connection while not in safe mode, then booted in safemode and tried to reconnect, and it says its connected but it isnt sending or receiving anything. if I boot it normally and reconnect then reboot in safe mode will it fix this?

I opened windows in safe mode downloaded malwarebytes but when i try and open it gives me a "run-time error '440' automation error and wont open the program. This is on windows xp

Just registered to say thank you very much for this information and download. You saved me a headache and a half and my wall from damages.

This is a hard to remove ransomware. One thing that helped me so far was this download: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.com. It stopped every rogue related process on my desktop, so I had no pesky interference from "Antivirus Soft" (they better called it 'Hard' or 'Hardcore' since it's that sh*tty). Then ran 'Glary Utilities'. All kinds of threats appeared and got removed by the program.

After rkill.com, Glary Utilities, removing the proxy in the internet options and running the ESET online scan, everything looks back to normal... I didn't need safe mode or backups. I didn't restart though .

...2.5h later...

After the virus scan and after using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware my system is running back to normal. I restarted my pc several times, checked registry, etc.

I just want to reiterate to anyone who is unsure of downloading the link they provide, it works! I double checked it on google and the first site that came up was a review from cnet. So I trusted that. I got that pesky antispyware soft on my computer and pretty much freaked out thinking I'd ruined it. This literally took 10 minutes to download, scan, and fix the problem. I lost a whole day at work due to a laptop loaded with useless corporate antivirus software. Thanks so much. I was leery of the download. But it did the trick where Symantec, McAfee, and Ad Aware did nothing!

if anyones having trouble running the malwarebytes program (since the virus usually disables it) rename it to something randome on setup.... i called mine "banana.exe" and it started easily

I am trying to download malware inc software but everytime i click on the download button, it opens up a new window and it says it cannot connect. I even tried going to their website directly and cannot get connection to it but I can connect to this and other sites. Anybody know why?
