hey all,

Well, i came across the internet security 2010 virus, I visited a few forums to see how other people dealt with the problem but obviously didn't read enough into it before i began furiously downloading anti spyware. I downloaded ad aware and spybot search and destroy. After scanning with ad aware the infected files were found and instructed me to reboot. When it rebooted it said it was deleting internetsecurity2010.exe, but afterwards it logged me out and i couldnt access my profile and kept automatically logging me out.

Even in safe mode, the same thing happens, both to my profile and administrator. I have used hiren's bootCD and can access mini xp and its the only way i know how to get into my os. but with mini xp ive found that i cannot install programs or use system restore or other commands like msconfig. Ive been googling the problem but with no success. I have tried many things, and i have came to the conclusion (not knowing if it is true or not) that it is userinit.exe. Ive tried to change the value in regedit with something along the lines of "C:/windows/system32/useinit.exe" and with no success. ive googled alot and couldnt find any other answers.

i dont have access to a windows xp cd to do a system recovery and one is on the way in the mail. I need my pc for uni and need it up asap, please help

Hello.
Don't edit the userinit value without guidance, the value has to be exact to what it should be, even though it points at userinit.exe, it may still go wrong.

Check the value again, and make sure it has a little comma at the end of the value:

C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe,

Thanks for the response, I am still having problems with it though.

I've been told I cant change the registry in minixp and i cant log on to admin safe mode so I cant change it there either.

Is there any way to get into the registry without logging into windows? Is there a program on hiren's or one that i can download and use as a boot cd to change the winlogon reg?

Cheers
