Try the following.

1) Click Start, and then click Run.
2) In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3) In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4) In the right pane, click UpperFilters.

Note You may see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only.

5) On the Edit menu, click Delete.
6) When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
7) In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
8) On the Edit menu, click Delete.
9) When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
10) Exit Registry Editor.
11) Restart the computer.

You may have to scan for New Hardware if the drive is not found automatically.
Let me know and I can tell you how if needs be.

Sorry I could not get back to you yesterday.

Lets make a System restore point so any changes to your machine we can reverse them.
To do this got to Start Button -> Click on Programs -> Click on Accessories -> Click on System Tools -> Choose System Restore. Follow the on screen directions to make a restore point.

Do you have the LowerFilters? If so delete it, try restarting your PC and checking if your drive is showing.

If still not showing,
  • Right–click My Computer,
  • Click Manage, and then click Device Manager.
  • Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives
    • 1) Is your drive showing up here?
    • 2) Are there any ! or ? next to the drive?

If your drive is showing right click and ensure it is enabled.

Do you have power to the drive? Are you able to open and close the tray?
