Two days ago after I started my computer and typed password to log in and enter, it told me that my user profile environment cannot load as a file maybe corrupt and gives me a certain amount of seconds before it loads the default settings. On loading default settings half my programs were not there on start menu or even on the desktop. I somehow got all my programs back by reinstalling them but today my computer did some updates automatic and told me to restart. I restarted and got this message again. Please help I am afraid to shut my computer down.

Hello.

Please use another user account, if you have another one, and tell me if this problem reproduces on that account.

Then, please create a new user account. Control Panel > User Accounts. Log in to the account, and see if this problem reproduces.

When you have the results, please report them back here.

The issue it seems to be, is that your user profile on the computer is corrupt. It can be resolved by creating a new user account, and migrating your personal documents and pictures, etc over to the new account.

How can I migrate my personal documents and pictures to new account and have that not happen?

I have created new account as one of my friends told me and copy/pasted everything except the INI logs but still having same problem after a couple of days.

Please perform an XP repair install. Some components that are required for Windows to function properly, are missing.

Can I ask question before I do this?

If we do a system restore to a point before this all started will that help?

It might and is worth a try. But, usually a damaged user profile cannot be fixed easily. If you do a reinstall, then the correct Windows files can be put back in to place to prevent the problem from happening again.

ok. Sorry for asking questions upon questions but since I am not an expert in computers I am asking. When I got this computer I had not gotten a CD with it instead there was a user file and an user system recovery folder which I had to make into a DVD. Will that work in the reinstallation? Also since my computer is WIN XP with Media Center will Media center go away when reinstal or will it all be in the user system recovery DVD that I have?

It would be better to obtain a new copy of Windows XP.
