EDIT: I'm running on Windows XP home edition
__________________________________________________________________________

I recently acquired the System Security 2009 virus, yay! /sarcasm
It was causing a lot of trouble but I was able to disable it's startup with windows and have been trying to run Malware Bytes, AVG 8.5, and AdAware SE
Malware Byte's first run froze during the removal process, and then later froze during a scan.
AVG scanned for about 5+hours and froze on me.
AdAware SE's information is not up-to-date and because my laptop losing internet connection easily, the program was rendered useless.

After running these programs in normal mode, I figured it would be in my best interest to attempt to run them in Safe Mode instead. Safe Mode refused to boot. It would get to the end of the BIOS and then restart.
This was very odd so I kept trying to get into Safe Mode, maybe it was a fluke that it was failing.
It didn't go. So I tried to have it manually boot to Safe Mode by running msconfig and in the BOOT.INI tab I checked /SAFEBOOT

I signed my death warrant. Now my computer can't boot at all and will just cycle through the F8 boot menu. (From the F8 menu I have tried rebooting every way. All the safe mode options result in a return to menu after failing to complete the BIOS-it stops when it asks me if I want to stop loading SPDT.sys-, the "last known" and "normal" options result in going to the Windows XP load screen for 3-5seconds, quick flash of a blue screen of death, and reboot to F8 menu)
I hit F2 on the next cycle and tried to restore the defaults. I made sure I saved and exited, crossing my fingers. It didn't work.

What is there to do BESIDES reformatting my computer because I don't have any discs for my computer, and I would prefer not to lose what I haven't gotten to back up on my external.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Miki

Hello,

Please read this: http://www.geekpolice.net/-t3821.htm

And post your HijackThis log in a new topic here: http://www.geekpolice.net/virus-spyware-malware-removal-f11/

Let's see if it's system security is causing the problem.

Doctor Inferno, the problem is, my computer won't boot. Period. I want it in safe mode, it won't go, and it won't boot normally because of the /safeboot.

So I can't do anything for HijackThis. I would assume then that I can get little to no help because of this snag?

Hello,

Well, I'm afraid there's no other option left than to format your computer if it can't boot at all.

Hello, I have the exact same problem, xMiki, did you finally get it fixed? and how did you solve the problem?
Doctor Inferno, where can I go to find out how to format the computer to fix my own similar problem, will I lose all the stuff I have saved on the computer?

thanks for your help guys
