USB Port

I am trying to plug a keyboard into the usb port of my laptop but keep getting told usb device not recognised.
Could you help me please on this matter as my right hand side of the laptop keyboard does not work so having to use on screen keyboard to type and this is taking for ages. Bought a portable keyboard from pc world was told it was compatable but keep getting the message USB device not recognised. Thank you

Unplug your keyboard and go to Start >> Control Panel >> System and Maintenance >> System >> Device Manager >> select Keyboards >> Right click your driver and select uninstall.

Plug your keyboard back in.

I have done what you said but i do not have an option to uninstall. Only properties and scan for hardware??

Try to plug it into another USB port.
