win32/cryptor

hello Folks,
been lurking for awhile, and when the win32/cryptor showed up, we tried to use the xp system restore -no dice.
of course the HJT wouldnt run either. so, we created this DDS report and figured we'd see if someone could advise.
we successfully installed the norman malwarebytes on a pc. one of our laptops (inspiron) has this malware and of course the system restore is also not working.

hi all,
thanks for the prompt reply.
AFAIK, there are no anti virus or anti spyware programs active on the laptop.
ComboFix will NOT run, and when we went into Services to stop everything related to AVG8, spybot, adaware etc,
we noted that the remote access connection manager can't be stopped (error)
we did stop all of the other remote services. of course at the same time, we can hear a TV or RADIO BROADCAST, which
leads us to believe their are other trojan issues.
any suggestions?

Delete your copy of Combofix you have right now.

Now do this. Re-download Combofix again, but before doing so, read this next instructions for renaming Combofix.

1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

* Tools->Options->Main tab
* Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:





3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
5. Close any open browsers.
6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

hello Folks,
Thanks for the re-naming tip. Thus
we were able to run combo-fix and generate a log.
We looked through it but couldnt find anything at all out of the ordinary.
ComboFix did ask us to copy 9 file names (a couple of dll, a dat, a couple .log, a driver)
and they appear below.... we separated them by ^^ indenting them.
Would you mind perhaps taking a look at the log posted below?
We appreciate any comments or suggestions you may offer.
Based on what we know about when this first happened, the user was trying to
link to a blog for bikers talking about the upcoming laconia bike week from a
website called www.bikepics.com
which we are supposed to be blocking any adult sites, but.

Hello.

I see that you are running Limewire.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

If Limewire is not removed, then I won't help you.

I strongly recommend you to remove Ask from your computer because it's:

• Promoting its toolbars on sites targeted to kids.
  
• Promoting its toolbars through ads that appear to be part of other companies' sites.
  
• Promoting its toolbars through other companies' spyware.
  
• Installing without any disclosure whatsoever and without any consent whatsoever.
  
• Soliciting installations via "deceptive door openers" that do not accurately describe the offer; failing to affirmatively show a license agreement; linking to a EULA via an off-screen link.
  
• Making confusing changes to users' browsers -- increasing Ask's revenues while taking users to pages they didn't intend to visit.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

Now open a new notepad file.

Thanks for the prompt response!
We have no idea how "ASK" was loaded onto this particular machine.
ASK & Limewire have both been uninstalled.
We'll post the ComboFix log in 2 posts, as it is pretty large!
And, the posts will be in sequence, so that the first part of the log will appear in the older post and the 2nd part of the log in the newest post.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. We just had dell send the recovery discs, but were told that it could take T W O D A Y S to restore the laptop, and that there are security risks when we log back in to get SPs.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
