computer start up problem

Hi my step dad has a computer problem... when he turns the power off from the surge protector before like thunderstorms and then the next day when he tries to plug it back in and power on the pc it doesnt always come on. the light on the motherboard comes on but nothing else powers on... what could cause that?

Most probably loose cables, or a loose power cord. If not it would be a faulty power supply.

Try power up your powersupply for a day, then switch on your computer after that.
