computer problems due to previous trojans?

Hi,
I've been having problems with my computer. I'm not able to open Ad aware, nor am I able to uninstall it. When I click on the firefox icon on the desktop it will not come up, yet it seems to be running in the background. I've tried to uninstall it and then install it again and it's the same. My computer is running really slow and seems to be getting slower. And my printer will only print on 1/4 of the page-text is shrunk to fit there. I'm pretty good with figuring out the printer, and making changes to it but this I can't figure out. On the "page preview" it will look normal size over the entire page but doesn't print that way.

Several days ago I had problems with trojans and they were removed with Malwarebyes anti malware program. The trojans it picked up and removed were: Trojan.agent, Trojan.BHO, Trojan.Vundo, Trojan.Trace, Trojan.Vundo.H, Trojan.Downloader.

I've been using AVG free, and Ad Aware to scan my computer. Are some of the problems due to the Trojans that I got rid of?

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop

• Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  
• Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
  

2. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

• Leave the script box empty.
  
• Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  
• Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  
• Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  
• Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
  
  The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  
  
• It will Restart your computer.
  
• On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  
• After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  
• The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
  

3. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

I strongly recommend you to remove Ask from your computer because it's:

• Promoting its toolbars on sites targeted to kids.
  
• Promoting its toolbars through ads that appear to be part of other companies' sites.
  
• Promoting its toolbars through other companies' spyware.
  
• Installing without any disclosure whatsoever and without any consent whatsoever.
  
• Soliciting installations via "deceptive door openers" that do not accurately describe the offer; failing to affirmatively show a license agreement; linking to a EULA via an off-screen link.
  
• Making confusing changes to users' browsers -- increasing Ask's revenues while taking users to pages they didn't intend to visit.

• Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  
• Click the red Moveit! button.
  
• Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  
• Close OTMoveIt3
  

If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

I did uninstall Ask toolbar.

Hello.
I want to run one more general scan to see if it picks up anything we can't see.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

This is the same results as I got earlier today (before I began posting) using the full scan.

Now firefox comes up right away, but I get this error message when I try to bring up ad aware: System error 1814 has occured. Description: Courld not log into service. Are you running this application as another user? Application terminates.

Should I try again now to uninstall it?

Probably corrupted due to the malware, uninstall it, then re-install it.

When I try to uninstall ad-aware it stalls for quite awhile then gives an error message:

Error 1921. Service Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service [aawservice] could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.

I stop it and it asks if I really mean to do that. I click yes and then this message comes up:

fatal error during installation

Hmmm.
I wonder if we can try a brute froce attack to stop the service.

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"
  
• Check the boxes in front of these lines:
  
  
  O23 - Service: Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service (aawservice) - Lavasoft - C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\aawservice.exe
  
  
  
• Press "Fix Checked"
  
• Close Hijack This.
  

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

sc config "aawservice" start= disabled
sc stop "aawservice"
sc delete "aawservice"
del fix.bat
exit

Save this as fix.bat, save it to your desktop.
Double click fix.bat and the black cmd window will open and close, this is normal.

Try uninstalling it again.

It's doing the same thing. It's hanging at this point: Please wait while windows configures Ad-Aware 2008

When I click "cancel" it just hangs. I need to use control/alt/delete and then stop application in order to get it to stop.

Belahzar, I'm sure I knew at one time but I didn't remember that ad-aware had a help forum. There was a "fix" posted for this (the error 814)

I fixed that but it still didn't come up when I clicked on the icon, but I was able to uninstall it and then reinstall it.

I know I've run ad-aware many times since March so I don't know what happened.
