  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3
  • Double click DDS.scr to run
  • When complete, DDS.txt will open.
  • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

Hello.
Please uninstall Mcafee as it will interfere with this next tool.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Mcafee security center

  • Download combofix from here
    Link 1
    Link 2
  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • Make sure Mcafee is uninstalled before running Combofix.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

My Laptop is affected with virus..Pl help Rcauto10

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

My Laptop is affected with virus..Pl help Whatne10

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Hello.
Okay, we'll do it another way, but we'll have to go all around the blocks. Don't use Combofix for now.

See HERE for how to disable your AV. (Mcafee)

Sir,
I have posted the txt file in three parts since it seemed too big to fit here.

Hello.
It's okay, use as many posts as needed.

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

KILLALL::

Driver::
iwdrxeer
kosmbxyr
plaptfzi

File::
c:\windows\system32\biwasavo.dll

c:\program files\ilc_schdl.bat
c:\windows\Tasks\At1.job

Registry::

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:
My Laptop is affected with virus..Pl help Sfxdaw

This will open combofix.exe again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run, it may want to reboot after it's done. Post the resulting log back here.

Hello. Yep, think were done here. You can re-install Mcafee after you just do this run command to remove Combofix. Let me know once you've done this and install Mcafee again.

Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bolded text into the Run box and click OK:

ComboFix /u

If we can get this early, there might not be as much damage done as before.

Hello.
We caught it early, no need for Combofix this time around.

I know why it came back, this infection known as bankerfox.a hijacks the Host file and we didn't fix that part, so we'll fix it this time.

Download HostsXpert from HERE

  • Unzip it.
  • Double click executable file to open the program.
  • If "Make writeable?" is shown in red at the top, click it to make writeable.
  • Press "Restore MS Hosts File"
  • OK the prompt.
  • Then click on "Make read only"
  • Exit HostXpert.

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it.
  • Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :services

    "system tool"=-
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run]
    "svcho"=-

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

Hello.
The infection shouldn't get back in now, but I'd like to update Java while your still here.

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:

  • Download the latest version of Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 12.
  • Select the first option where it says "This release includes the highly anticipated...".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • In the Window that opens, select your platform and language, check the "agree" box, and click Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add or Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    - Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    - J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    - J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe that you downloaded to install the newest version.
Please make sure the new version of Java is installed before you run JavaRa.

Please download JavaRa from here

  • First, unzip it.
  • Then run JavaRa. (If you are running Vista, you will need to right click JavaRa > select "Run as administrator")
  • Select English from the drop down menu and press Select.
  • This will open JavaRa.
  • Press Remove older versions
  • Press yes to the prompt.
  • It will make a log file of what it's removed.
  • Copy and paste the log back here.

Hi,

Thanks for the immediate reply.
However, i cant assure u about updating the JRE right now. My husband is a Java Programmer and so i really dont know whether i need to update this current version. Im scared if he would prefer this change. He rarely works on this machine with his code(He has another laptop from office), but still i don want to fiddle around.
I appreciate ur interest in keeping my laptop safe from further infections.
Can i know anything else which can be done ? Or any other alternative ?

Thanks
-Priya-

Hello.

Okay, leave the Java.
One thing I want to note:

I see Teamviewer.
c:\program files\TeamViewer

I don't know if you or your husband uses this, but it allows remote access, so if it's not used, I'd advice you to uninstall you.

We need to make a new restore point.

To turn off System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.
4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System Restore.

Now we need to make a new restore point.
To turn on System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click the Turn off System Restore check box (To turn on System Restore), and then click OK.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers. Goofy

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE
A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here.

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

SpywareBlaster
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.

SpywareGuard
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
I also recommand the following add-ons for Firefox, they will help keep you safe from malicious scripts or activeX exploits.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433

4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

To help you keep your software updated, please considering using this free software program that will check for program updates.
Update Checker

5) Finally, consider maintaining a firewall. Some good free firewalls are Kerio, or
Outpost
A tutorial on understanding and using firewalls may be found here.

Please also read Tony Klein's excellent article: How I got Infected in the First Place

If you would take a moment to fill out our feedback form, we would appreciate it.
The link can be found here.

Hopefully this should take care of your problems! Good luck. Big Grin

Sir,

I and my husband use teamviewer software to take access of our systems in india(the ones our parents are using).
Usually when we chat with our parents in Google talk, we access their system and teach them how to use certian applications that we try to explain over the call. For eg, we teach them how to use the yahoo messenger to initiate a video chat etc.
So, we have downloaded this software knowingly. And we use it for personal use only. And in a proper way. We have never used in a illegal way.
I shall do the system restore stuff now.
