I see that it's suggested to do a malwarebytes scan, which I did, and it found nothing. HELP!

and actually, I was looking through my external terabyte drive when I found a folder that I didn't recognize. I looked inside and found two .exe files...when I went to scan them, the folder disappeared. Does this mean the infection sits in my external drive?

Other odd things... My bittorrent downloader, Vuze, keeps shutting down without my say-so. It hasn't done that until today.

OTMoveIt3 froze and is not responding

I wonder if avast is conflicting with our tools, I know avast had problems with our tools in the past.

Then try running OTMoveIt again.

OTMoveIt righted itself and had me reboot. I haven't gotten a log from it, is it supposed to boot up with the system?

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:
