I have partial sound. I have sound with Windows Media Player, but not with Adobe Flash. I have sound when using ITunes, so I know it isn't a speaker problem. I can hear music on Windows media, however, when playing a video on Adobe (or YouTube) I get the video but NO SOUND. I dont' understand the difference, so I have tried many fixes. I did CCleaner, and the Codec fix. Nothing helps...

Save it as.... missing.reg (Make sure you include the Windows Regestry Editor Version 5.00 line).

Then double click on the saved file to import it into your regestry.

You may have to re-edit your sound scheme when you have completed this but at least flash content audio should now work correctly.

Regards

thanks! I copy the text over to a text file, and it said that it would be text read only and remove the formatting.. is this right? I tried it but it didn't work. Maybe I didn't save it correctly. there were a few other options
missing.reg.doc or text.msdos

Under that Save as type option save it as All Files. Try again.

As Doc has mentioned:

Highlight the above text in the code and then right click and select copy.

Open 'notepad' and paste the text within.

I then click on the red cross to exit and you will be asked to 'save'

Select 'desktop' as your save location, name the file missing.reg and then select 'all files' from 'save as type' drop down box!

Double click the file on your desktop to merge it with the registry!

Good Luck.

I am so sorry to ware out this issue but I don't have "all files" for saving option. I only have RTF , Text Doc, Text Doc - MS DOS , or Unicode text doc. I have tried to save it as RFT (which will not work), and then as Text Doc (which did not save as formating and did not fix problem)...

I think you have selected the Encoding option instead of the Save as type. Here's a screenshot of where it is located at.

Lets' try another method,

Click Start >> Run >> Type: sndvol32 >> Click OK

Make sure the following are not muted and the volume is up for "Volume Control" and "Wave".

Make sure you have your sound card selected as the Default device:

Click Start >> Control Panel >> Open the Sound and Audio Devices icon >> Click the Audio Tab >> Under Sound playback set the Default device to your sound card not your webcam/modem >> OK.

Videos on YouTube are streamed through an Adobe Flash player. I suggest you install the latest version of Adobe Flash after removing any old versions you've installed.

  • Completely uninstall Flash before reinstalling the latest version.

  • To uninstall Flash, please follow Adobe's instructions, listed here.

  • Then, restart your computer and follow Adobe's instructions for reinstalling Flash, listed here.

  • If your system meets all the requirements, but the video player still isn't working properly, please try troubleshooting with a different browser. Remember to test the audio on multiple videos!

If you can't hear sound within videos embedded on other websites or blogs,
your computer may be blocking third-party Flash content. To correct this, follow the steps below:

1. Visit http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html
2. The Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager should display.
3. Check the box labeled: "Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer."
4. To ensure the check sticks please click one of the tabs at the top of that box and then click back to the (Global Storage Settings Panel). The box should still be checked.
5. Once this is complete, close all browser windows and try playing an embedded video.
