Hi

I have recently bought a new 4k tv, all is great except for 4k video playback on my PC.

Its a pretty old system and i have tried every solution i can find online to resolve the jittery issues.

Im trying to find out what processors/graphics cards etc are required but im not having much luck. Is there a system anyone can suggest?

Thanks

Anthony

Hi @gridley1982,

Please publish a Snapshot using Speccy, taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left. Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course): New PC for 4k video playback P22004369

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot. You will see the following prompt:

New PC for 4k video playback P22004371

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

New PC for 4k video playback P22004372

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the Add Reply button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Send below the Reply box.

I downloaded the latest windows driver and when i went to install it, i got the message that i already have the latest drivers.

When you say display port do you mean the VGA? I currently have it connected via HDMI

I unistalled and reinstalled the drivers.

My pc does not have a display port, plus i have it hooked up to a UHD TV not a monitor.

I have downloaded the k-lite codec pack and some of the files will play using media player classic but others still wont play. Its seems the larger the file the less it will play.

Just to be clear the video will start but its really slow and jerky

Hi @gridley1982,

Can you also try playing video files with VLC Media Player and let us know problem persist.

K-Lite codec pack have a utility called "Codec Tweak Tool" you can found in Start Menu. Use "Codec Tweak Tool" utility to repair codec related problems.

VLC player doesnt work either. I upgraded to the latest version but the file plays almost in slow motion, it lags very bad.

I looked up the specs on my motherboard and it specifically states the 4k playback compatible using the integrated graphics.

I will check the tweak tool when I get home

Yes Intel HD Graphics 4400 is 4K compatible you may want to also try previous version of Intel HD Graphics 4400 driver maybe latest version of the driver buggy.
