Normally a system freezes because of a rogue program. Run msconfig and check to see what is starting automatically when you start the system. If there is something you don't really need starting then disable it. Also check you services and see if something is running there that you don't need. Next check your drivers to make sure you have them installed correctly by checking device manager where you should not have any unknown items or exclamation marks on the devices. Finally do a full scan of your system with your antivirus and a malware progrm, such as malwarebytes. Hope this helps.
