Computer light not working.

I've searched the threads and I haven't seen this exact problem.

The monitor display itself actually works, but every time I cut the computer on, the light shuts off after a split second so even in a brightly lit room, you can barely see whats on screen.

I've tried replacing the battery, but the same problem occurs.

What should I do?

Have you ever come to the conclusion that your back light is dead? That would be the reason if the display is barely visible in a brightly lit room.

I wouldn't say its dead, but its very low energy. Lately II've been able to get it to work more about a minute, but it doesn't stay on any more.

I much would a new one cost?
