Unable to remove virus

About a week ago I encountered a virus while browsing a site that completely wrecked havoc on my user profile. It seemed somewhat like the Antivirus Pro 2010 though I never did catch the actual name of it. In any case, I had many little pop-up ballons come up from my toolbar saying my computer was infected with spyware and that I should download their product to clean my computer out. I never clicked on any of them (other than to exit them out). Since it wouldn't let me open any of my programs in my profile or let me on the internet, I figured I would go to one of the other profiles and see if I could run Malwarebytes which low and behold I could. So I got rid (or so it seemed) of the virus that was messing with my profile however after that, no files with the entension .exe would run, so I decided to do a system restore which fixed that problem.

My next dilemma comes into play with the fact that I now have another virus on my computer which I'm not even sure where came from since it's not the same one from before. This one (a trojan) Mcafee picks up, but will not let me delete it. Instead it states "scan after restart" which does nothing for me. I'm hoping that you guys can help me clean out my computer since I'm starting to get where I'm nevous about even getting on here in the first place.

I should also mention that I have occassional redirects happen to me while on the internet that take me to a screen showing my computer is under attack and that many of my files are infected. Thanks in advance for your help and here is my Hijackthis log:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware by clicking the link below:

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* You'll be required to post the contents of this log later.

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.This applies to XP Pro and XP Home users only.If you have SP3 installed you will need to use the download meant for SP2.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should get a prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

(1) Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
(2) Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.


Please include the MBAM log, C:\ComboFix.txt as well as a new HijackThis log for further review, so that we may continue cleansing the system.


Caution: Never run and remove files with Combofix unless supervised by a qualified security analyst who is experienced in the use of Combofix. Misuse can cause serious computer problems.

Looks like MBAM and ComboFix removed quite a bit of junk!

I see two potentially unwanted applications: AskBar and ViewPoint.


Viewpoint is usually installed alongside with programs, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). It is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware.

Similarly, AskBar is also often installed along with other programs, such as Foxit. While it may not be malicious in nature, it may place unwanted adverts or collect personal information and transmit back to its server.


I suggest you remove both programs, but it is up to you to decide.


If you would like to remove them, please go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the following if found:
Viewpoint
Viewpoint Manager
Viewpoint Media Player
AskBar
AskBarDis

Reboot even if not prompted to. Then navigate to and delete the following folders if they still exist:
c:\program files\Viewpoint\
C:\Program Files\AskBarDis\

Let me know if you had any trouble uninstalling them.
