comp starting over and over

Hello People,
I know am pretty new here but i do realize this is the best place to be.
I need some help please,,am not to bad using a computer but there are i few things i cant under stand, My old comp. is down right now due to a virus i think. when i power it up all the fans start and drive spins, it makes it to the HP logo and then restarts,,over and over and so on for many times. I am using a back-up comp right now, the question i would like to ask is,,,can i use the harddrive i think has the virus as a slave drive? I did hook it up as that and it dont show any files on it,,,even tho i know it has alot. any ways i would like to try and clean it up so i can use it again,,,,god like a fool, i did not back up my family pictures i have on it,,,like my baby's frist birthday pics.
can some one please help me atleast get the files back.

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

• Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  
• Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  
• It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  
• You may need to use two posts to get it all.
  

thanx for your answer Belahzur,,,but as i said in my post, the drive just starts over and over so there is nothing i can do beyond pushing the power switch. unless i could hook up the bad drive as a slave and OTL.txt will read both drives,,,,,,i will try that. thanx

Belahzur, That did not do any thing but trick me,,,,,i did set it up as a slave and downloaded supperspy remover, and scand the drive, came back listing 10 threats, i clean them and hooked it up as master, still same thing,,over,over and on and on. but i did make a xp-startup disk and that lets me get into safemode with promt. is there any thing i can do with that? it seams like my boot.ini is all out of wack. do you know the proper way to have the drive do a scan and repair?

Try this.

Avira AntiVir Rescue System is a Linux-based application that allows accessing computers that cannot be booted anymore.

• Download The Avira AntiVir Rescue System from Antivir.de.
  
• Just double-click on the rescue system package to burn it to a CD/DVD.
  
• Then please use that CD/DVD with Avira Rescue System to boot your computer.
  

You'll get a boot option to either boot from hard drive or AntiVir Rescue System.


Press the number 2 on your keyboard to boot into AntiVir Rescue System.

Please wait until drivers are loaded and Main menu shows. Then please select the second option “Scan your system with AntiVir” and hit Enter.


Under Configuration, please select Scan all files, Try to repair infected files and Rename files if they cannot be removed?.


Then please start the scan.

The Avira AntiVir Rescue System wil now

• repair a damaged system,
  
• rescue data,
  
• scan the system for virus infections.
  

Belahzur, sorry so long to reply. was out of staet.
Idid try that and i still cant get past the logo, the screen shows "HP" and then starts over, and over---on and on.
thank you for trying but i think i will take my lose and reformat.
i did find out that it is the file named "mbr" just dont know how to fix it.
