descriptionProblems after attempting to remove patching virus EmptyProblems after attempting to remove patching virus

Hi,

Not really sure if this problem is included in virus removal, it's more to do with the results of virus removal; if it's in the wrong place, I appologise.

First a little bit of background; my laptop runs Windows 7 and reciently was infected quite badly with a patching virus (Virut) and as a result I couldnt start windows explorer, I managed to run Dr. Web's Cure it, Malwarebytes and Super anti-spyware through the task manager in safe mode. After that it got a little better, I could start explorer, but only in safe mode; If I try and run Windows normaly LogonUI fails to run I only get the following error message

LogonUI.exe -Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)
Click OK to close application

I came here the last time I had a problem I couldn't fix myself and you proved to be very helpful so naturally I came here first as soon as got stuck Smile...

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Hello.

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.
