internet Connection

I have a Sony laptop and I recently downloaded firefox3.5 but am unable to connect to the internet with internet explorer nor can I connect to Itunes store from Itunes so I tried reinstalling firefox 2And cant get any inter net at all Its not a wireless network problem as I am posting this from my dads laptop on the same wireless network running of BT home hub2-ZY52 telling me I have a full signal have tried .

IE connection settings. Verify if IE is on Offline mode.
Internet Options,
Click on LAN settings, Then tick : Automatically Detect Proxy settings

Can any one halp me Please.

Open CMD, Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Restart your PC.

If it doesn't work, download Winsock XP Fix from here, save it to your Desktop.

Double click on the exe on your Desktop.
Press the "Fix" button, then restart again.

See if you can connect now.
