I couldn't run MBAM initially, it would delete the file. Finally I got MBAM with the random filename executable - That ran, I cleaned up all stuff - or sos I thought - but there was this one thing always coming back on the HT log.
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: yawugedu.dll
I would delete the entry on HT and run MBAM and cleanup, but the damn thing kept coming back, and adding more crap to the startup after each reboot. Please help. Here is the full HT log.

I deleted the entries through HT. But I couldn't run the MBAM I downloaded, the virus kept deleting the MBAM executable. I got the MBAM with the random filename, I was able to run that. After reboot, I am getting a couple of popups for every program I open, like "The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\hufehega.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette". Here is the MBAM log (after reboot)

PS: To get through DDS, I had to painfully click OK through a million popups like "The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\hufehega.dll is not a valid Windows image", for many programs like sort.exe etc. I hope the log is still valid.

Hello.

  • Download combofix from here
    Link 1
    Link 2

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

Antivirus System Pro / Vundo - Yet another victim - Please help CF_download_FF

Antivirus System Pro / Vundo - Yet another victim - Please help CF_download_rename

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See HERE for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

Antivirus System Pro / Vundo - Yet another victim - Please help Cf410

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

Antivirus System Pro / Vundo - Yet another victim - Please help Cf510

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

  1. Close any open browsers.
  2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

    File::
    C:\isllv.exe
    c:\windows\Internet Logs\xDB7.tmp
    c:\windows\Internet Logs\xDB6.tmp

    Folder::
    C:\found.000

  4. Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Antivirus System Pro / Vundo - Yet another victim - Please help Cfscriptb4i

  5. Referring to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
  6. When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt
  7. Please post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Thank you for your help so far -- you guys are a life savers. Please see the comboFix log above. Does this mean that I am free of all issues now? The reason I am a still unsure about this is that I saw some very weird things during/after the comboFix reboot:

1) While comboFix was scanning (after Recovery console Installation but before the final reboot), suddenly windows came up with a (system tray) notification with a yellow warning sign that said that chkdsk has to be run because of some disk errors. I didn't touch that notification. I let ComboFix finish and reboot.

2) When rebooting, windows automatically went into chkdsk mode. I let that finish too (it took a while)

3) After rebooting and logging into my desktop, I let comboFix finish up with the log creation. While that was going on, I suddenly saw some major activity on my firewall - something else besides pev.exe (which is part of comboFix I suppose) was accessing the internet and downloading something, I couldn't track down what it was because comboFix had warned me not to open any other programs until it was done with log creation. It could have been windows update which was accessing the internet, but I am not sure.

4) After comboFix was done with log creation (I posted the log above), I generally looked around to see if there was anything going on. I noticed a file called C:\isllv.exe in the root directory. I never save files to the root, I don't know how it got there and why its there. It looks weird.

5) When I restarted my Norton virus scanner (remember I had disabled it for comboFix), it immediately warned me that it has detected a virus in a file my Firefox cache, and it quarantined the file away. I don't recall what the file was or what the virus was (I got sidetracked by a family issue and had to leave my computer)

Oops, sorry, I was typing my post above at the same time that you posted your note. Yes, I will make the CFScript.txt and do the steps as instructed. (but it will be later tonight before I can respond, I am at work right now)

This will also reset your restore points.

How is the machine running now?

I did the ComboFix/u.

The machine is running a lot better now. No arbitrary popups and "302 moved" errors from firefox.

Thank you so much. If it wasn't for you, I was looking at a HD reformat. I had tried every trick I knew before contacting you.

I will make a donation (but from another machine :-) I still don't trust this machine enough to do a money transaction through this)
