Battery Problem
I am using a laptop and I don't know how to make it always charge.
Battery Problem Untitl12
How do I make it always charge?

And my other laptop is always at 0% and never charges, the only way for that laptop to run is with the charger plugged in, but its never charging.

Hello,
I moved your other post to hardware but since you made this post, the other one is not needed (but I don't have powers to move it, so another mod will have to trash it)

Anyway, I think the battery is faulty and I believe there is no real solution to fix it. I have a laptop with the same problem, and cannot run without a wire, but got nowhere to buy a new one.

So I have to always have the charger plugged in?

Edit: I went to google and got this:
-Gone to support.dell.com and downloaded the newest BIOS then restarted.
-Got latest windows updates, restarted.
-Turned off took out battery, held down power button for ten slow seconds, put battery in, started it up.
-Unplugged, shut down computer, left battery out for ten minutes, put in battery, turned on.

How do I tell what my BIOS verison is?

When you boot. The first screen will say Dell
The BIOS versions should be the number underneath the logo image.

Or you could go to "system information" from the "system tools" located in
"accessories" of the "all programs" menu.
You can also find it using Vista / Windows 7 start menu search by typing in system information

Ok none of those worked.
So I guess I will have to always have my charger plugged in.

Hello...

A long time ago I had a samsung laptop and it did the same thing.
At the time I didn't know half as much about computers as I do now, so the laptop ended up in the bin.

so unfortunatly I don't have a solution to fix this.

But have you tried a different battery to see if that's the problem?

Also try cleaning the contacts on both the battery and the laptop .

Contacts?

I think i saw somewhere that Dell was using downgraded batteries, Is there a way to upgrade the batteries?

the metal contacts where the battery connects to the laptop, sometimes you may not have access to the contacts on the battery.

sorry not sure about updating the battery

you could also check the DC Voltage is Good.
Check the voltage at the output
of your AC adapter with a DC voltmeter, right on the barrel connector that
gets plugged into the laptop. The rule of thumb for acceptable readings on
power adapter output is usually a 5% variation either way of the faceplate
voltage, and in terms of charging a battery, a high reading is better than
a low reading.
