Computer Automatically Restarts

I opened up my laptop after it was closed (but still on) for a couple of hours. When I opened it up, it shut down and then turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. And it kept doing this until I realized that I should probably hold down the power button. Once completley off, I waited an hour and put it back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. Then it shut off (after I logged on) and turned back on. AND IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE!!! Does anyone know what I should do?

By the way it is an HP TX-2 running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition with about 3.7 GB of RAM. Also, lately there have been these 2 proccesees (this might have something to do with it) that have kept popping up and take up a lot of CPU (sometimes up to 80) They are called msb.exe and b.exe I don't know what they are but they always make my computer run slow when they show up (which is about 20 mins after I click end process) A day or so ago, b.exe disapeared and hasn't come back, however, msb.exe is now comming back more frequently. I don't know if this is the problem or if it is something else. After I logged on, I tried going straight to the task manager to see if there was anything there, but once I clicked on Start Task Manager after pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL it took a minute or so and restarted again.

I hope someone can help me.

by the way, i just tried it and i can get to safe mode by pressing F8 and it wont restart on its own

hello, i arnt 100% sure about this but i believe the process MSB.EXE could be related to an infection.

i would wait for one of the techs to confirm this (if it is a infection) then post in the malware removal thread.

will i be able to remove it in safe mode? and if so, will it stop my computer from acting all strange?

also, i went into safe mode and enabled the guest account then logged on to that in normal mode and it works fine, its just a little slow because i just started using it

There are references where msb.exe is malware.

will i be able to run that hijackthis program in safe mode and still get proper results because i cant do anything normally under the infected account without my computer doing the restart thing
