System Security 2009

Okay i just cleaned my computer up from this, well at least most of what was holding my computer back from even running any programs at all. Now i want to rid of this virus completely because I have noticed it has been slowing down my computer recently.

We need to remove a few things before we can get rid of the malware.

• Open HijackThis.
  
• When Hijack This opens, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
  
• Then select "Open Uninstall Manager"
  
• Click on "Save List..." (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  
• Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Hello.
We are going to need to uninstall Ad-aware and Spybot because their real time protection is running and it stops us from making changes. This is just temporary though, you can put them back once we are done.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

Next,

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"
  
• Check the boxes in front of these lines:

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Okay as of right now I am running the Malwarebytes scan and will post the results soon. However, as i was uninstalling software i noticed there were only one Ad-adware yet it appeared as two on the hijack list. Anything to be worried about?

Okay. Well firstly I would like to apologize for constantly bumping then because i was unsure or not if my thread was going to be looked at again. That first bump was from last night in hopes of getting some help with this problem. This morning my computer rebooted and as I put in my login password and my computer loaded up the "Privacy Center" popped up. I used the task manager to kill this program , it was called "Private.exe" or something like that . Now i am running MBAM and Avira and so far have 9 infected objects on MBAM and one on Avira. I am waiting for these scans to be completed before running combofix. Thanks again for your time.

A rootkit was causing the problem, that's gone now, so just need to tidy the rest up.

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:


This will open combofix again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run.

Does that uninstall it? And yes. My system is running fine now. However, when I run Warcraft III : Frozen Throne in windows mode, during a game, it sometimes restart. Is that just because I am working my computer too hard?

The restarting during the game could be overloading the graphics card.

If the game is loading many graphics at once, like when your firing at someone and moving at the same time and doing other things all at once, it basically overloads the machines graphics and causes it to restart.

Hello, Recently I have been trying to update Malwarebytes but I am unable to through the program because I get an error. Instead I tried doing hte manual update through the Malwarebytes forum, however, that site is not working for me either. I get the "server not found" page, try again.

I still need help. I forgot to mention that it lags as well when i start up my computer. like the whole desktop and everything is loaded and i can move my mouse but when i move it down to the start button it turns into the time capsule busy signal and just lags there for awhile, then the windows start up music works after about 3 minutes or so and the computer becomes operational.

Edit: Websites such as http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3436 these, which are for manually updating malwarebytes, will not load for me and says that server not found.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop
Link: HERE

• Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  
• Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
  

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

• Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  
• Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  
• Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  
• Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  
• Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
  
  The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  
  
• It will Restart your computer.
  
• On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  
• After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  
• The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
  

4. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

This time when the computer restarted it only lagged for about 30 seconds before the window start up sound comes on and I am able to use my computer normally.

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:
