BlueScreen - Help

A friend has been having problems with his laptop for a little while now.... its only 8 months old..... anyway its been really slow and every now and again it goes "blue screen" then says dumping to disk then shuts down.....

could this be a virus ?

It could be a virus or it could be a hardware problem, lets see if its a virus problem:



Please download the current version of HijackThis from HERE

• Double click and run the installer.
  
• It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  
• After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  
• Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

Did the bluescreen give you any kind of error message, or a file name?

nope just goes blue and says dumping files ?¬!

Okay, next time it happens, go to Start > Run. In the run box, type this in:

eventvwr

Hit enter. Then when the event viewer opens, go into the "System" part, and look for an error with the red sign, that should have some information on what happened.
