IRC Flood am Trojan

Hi ,

McAfee and Paretologic are regularly blocking this trojan but i am struggling to remove it. When it tries to start up it seems to run a DOS screen for system 32. All help in removing this would be gretly appreciated!

Lets start with an uninstall log.

• Open HijackThis.
  
• When Hijack This opens, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
  
• Then select "Open Uninstall Manager"
  
• Click on "Save List..." (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  
• Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
  

Uninstall list as requested. I think the probelm has something to do with the MIRC file which i tried to uninstall but with no success.

McAfee is stopping this trojan and it usually says it is in system32/driver32/nicks 32 txt if that helps.

All help appreciated.

I see that you are running BitTornado.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

If BitTornado is not removed, then I won't help you.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

hi,

have folowed all suggestions and have posted the SECOND log from malwarebites. The first identified over 20 issues and needed the pc restarting. However, when restarted MIRC also reappeared and the command screen also for a few seconds before McAfee again blocked the trojan.

Definitely getting there though if we can just stop MIRC restarting.

It's a hidden folder, so you might not be able to see it, but it's a little suspicious.

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.

• Save it to your desktop.
  
• Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it.
  
• Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

• Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  
• Close OTMoveIt3
  

If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

Once you have done the OTMoveIt, re-run MBAM and let me know if these two keys came back, and if MBAM detects them again.

Please download Ice Sword from HERE

1. Download the zip to your desktop and extract it.
   
2. Open the Ice Sword folder and then launch IceSword.exe.
   
3. Then look in the left hand bottom of the program and press "Registry"
   
4. When the registry list opens, drag the line between the two windows so you can see which registry hive you need.
   
   Now open the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > then open AppID. In there somewhere will be the two keys below:
   
   seekmotoolbar.skcommband
   seekmotoolbar.skcommband.1
   
   
5. Once you find them, right click the keys one by one and press "Delete"
   
6. Okay the prompt and do this for each of the keys.
   

Close IceSword now, and re-run MBAM, let me know if the two keys have gone.

the IceSword file cannot be opened - there seems to be a problem with the file.

Did you unzip the entire folder?

just rebooted and mcafee still seeing trojan at system 32, drivers 32, nicks.text. Still seems to be working better despite this.
