Okay I don't know if this is the forum to post this but I'm having problems with my Ipod. It's a second generation ipod nano. I had a bunch of viruses on my computer, got rid of them...and then plugged in the Ipod after and tried to restore it. It keeps failing and saying "unable to restore Ipod due to unknown reasons (error 1436.)" I brought it over to my friend's place and plugged it into the her mac and was able to restore it just fine....but now I have all her crappy music on my ipod. I brought it back home and tried again on my computer and I keep getting the same error. I've tried:

1) disconnecting and reconnecting
2) restarting computer
3) disabling and enabling disk use
4) tried both usb ports
5) re-registered .dll files according to Apple's recommendations
6) updated and reinstalled USB drivers
7) uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes and ran windows install clean up

Then I called Apple today and they can't help me unless I pay them $35 so I told them to screw off.

Can somebody help me please??? Any ideas or suggestions? Oh and I threw away the receipt so I can't really return it even though I've only had it for 3 weeks.

Calm down, even if this can't be resolved through our forum, depending on where you bought it from they may let you return it or exchange it.

haha Just frustrated because I've tried everything 10 times and nothing seems to work. I don't have the receipt for my Ipod...so can't return it. Going to Apple today to see if they can fix it..

Just some F.Y.I in the non-virtual world, this is coming from an expert at getting my way with companies. Keep your calm, ask for a manager, and you will get your product returned. They get to send it back to the factory and get their money back, and you get to go home happy with a new Ipod. Plus, its a fairly new product, so they know it is still within the manufactures warranty, regardless of the absence of your receipt.

By the way if they still don't do it:
1)Pretend I am your manager and you're someone REALLY important
2)Put me on the phone with them
3)I'll tell them straight up, and you will have your new Ipod

Now accepting 24/7 support from my cell phone. Still free of charge, don't worry! I'm not the best for help, but I am very dedicated 205-434-5442. It would be best to text me before calling and let me know who you are so that I don't reject the call thinking you are a bill collector.
