Okay I don't know if this is the forum to post this but I'm having problems with my Ipod. It's a second generation ipod nano. I had a bunch of viruses on my computer, got rid of them...and then plugged in the Ipod after and tried to restore it. It keeps failing and saying "unable to restore Ipod due to unknown reasons (error 1436.)" I brought it over to my friend's place and plugged it into the her mac and was able to restore it just fine....but now I have all her crappy music on my ipod. I brought it back home and tried again on my computer and I keep getting the same error. I've tried:
1) disconnecting and reconnecting
2) restarting computer
3) disabling and enabling disk use
4) tried both usb ports
5) re-registered .dll files according to Apple's recommendations
6) updated and reinstalled USB drivers
7) uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes and ran windows install clean up
Then I called Apple today and they can't help me unless I pay them $35 so I told them to screw off.
Can somebody help me please??? Any ideas or suggestions? Oh and I threw away the receipt so I can't really return it even though I've only had it for 3 weeks.
