Firstly, we should get Belahzur to take a look at your log files in order to rule out malware as the cause!
(Getting pop ups in explorer is most likely the cause of an infection)

We can then take it from there........Follow the instructions before posting this issue in the Malware Removal Forum.

Being called Doc is an honour.....thanks!

Well, if the Malware guru's say that your clean, then so be it!

Some other process (application) in Windows Explorer that is set to run automatically with/without your knowledge must be the issue then.

If your confident in performing registry alterations, you can stop all 'add-on' applications from running automatically by removing their privelages from the run registry.

I will take a look through your log and in the meantime, let me know if you would like to try and locate the offending app and terminate its run within the registry!

@ Digital -

You can see swats HKLM key in HJT, but the malware that hid in the %AppData%\Google was a HKCU item, not HKLM.

Ok......Often Windows Explorer crashes are also caused by 3rd party shell extensions that are not functioning properly.

To try and find if a 3rd party shell extension is causing your Windows Explorer to crash on certain actions, you'll need to download this file below.

It will let you view & disable shell extensions.

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/shellexview.html

After you downloaded & executed it, ShelExView will show all shell extensions installed on your system.

You could sort the entries so that you'll have all non Microsoft shell extensions grouped together.

Next, select all these non Microsoft shell extensions, and disable them.

If this does not help with the issue then we need to go to the next level and do some debugging!

Let us know how you go....
