Hi @Ricky_22

Lets see if Windows 10 still installed on your computer did you clean install Windows 7 on a separate partition or did you delete all partitions on the hard drive where Windows 10 installed.

Can you please open Disk Management by typing diskmgmt.msc into Start Menu and if you can post a screenshot of the Disk Management.

Hi @Ricky_22

Sorry i forget to mention you have a factory recovery partition which will contain setup files for Windows OS. You can use this factory recovery partition setup files to install version of the Windows OS that was installed when you have purchased the computer.

1. Backup your data if possible. Performing a factory reset on your Gateway will erase all of the data on the hard drive, so backup your data if you have important file you need to save.

2. The factory reset process may take a while, and losing power in the middle can cause serious problems. Make sure it's plugged in before continuing.

3. Reboot your computer and press Alt + F10 keys as soon as the Gateway or Acer logo appears. You may need to press the keys a couple times in order for them to register. This will load the Recovery Manager.

4. Select "Restore Operating System to Factory Defaults". You will be asked several times to confirm that you want to proceed. Starting the restore will erase all of the data on the disk and then reinstall Windows and the programs that came with your laptop. The restore process can take up to an hour to complete. There's an option to keep user data and restore the computer, but this is not recommended on the chance that some of that data is what's causing the computer to not work properly.

5. Follow the setup instructions to install Windows OS.

Are you saying by pressing Alt + F10 keys did not boot computer into Recovery Manager?

What was the version of the Windows OS that was installed on computer when you first purchased the computer?

Sorry, yes first it failed, I tried again and this time it worked - I got back to original, then it took ages for me to hook up with my server Smile... and more to catch up on updates lolz .... some of the programs were obsolete and had to be uninstalled and replaced - anyhow, with all these things going on, and explorer outdated and I could not fix that - I downloaded Chrome (I'm quite used to that) and had to update that a few times to enable me to get onto a recognizable facebook lolz .... organise my e-mails and download programs that I had before and key in registration codes (which thankfully I had printed out) and am now regaining a little confidence and tackling some problems as they occur Smile... which thankfully has gone well so far ...... Whew ..... back online .............. now I have to catch up on my emails- facebook and banking .... so, once again, thank you so much
